jPod re-airing tonight

June 19, 2008

A reminder for fans of jPod that the re-airing of 13 episode season one starts tonight at 8PM on the CBC. If the numbers are better this time around, then perhaps the CBC may give the show a second season.

A recap of the premise:

“jPod is a one hour comedic television show that is broadcast on the CBC. It’s based on best-selling author Douglas Coupland’s book of the same name. jPod is a funny, quirky, intelligent show that chronicles the lives of Ethan Jarlewski and his co-workers at the fictional Vancouver-based video games company Neotronic Arts.”

jPod is back! Sort of…

June 4, 2008

Thanks to Chad and K for passing on this info…

jPod is back! Well, sort of. For those that are unfamiliar with jPod, here is my description of it from one of my previous posts:

“jPod is a one hour comedic television show that is broadcast on the CBC. It’s based on best-selling author Douglas Coupland’s book of the same name. jPod is a funny, quirky, intelligent show that chronicles the lives of Ethan Jarlewski and his co-workers at the fictional Vancouver-based video games company Neotronic Arts.”

The CBC has decided to re-broadcast the first season of jPod, which was unfortunately not renewed for another season. The re-runs start on Thursday June 19 at 8PM. This gives the show a second chance to find a wider audience, and in turn higher ratings because of its better time slot. There may even be the possibility that the show will come back for a second season.

Bring back jPod!

March 8, 2008

jPod is a one hour comedic television show that is broadcast on the CBC. It’s based on best-selling author Douglas Coupland’s book of the same name. jPod is a funny, quirky, intelligent show that chronicles the lives of Ethan Jarlewski and his co-workers at the fictional Vancouver-based video games company Neotronic Arts. Episodic themes include drug smuggling, gory video games, and annoying clowns. It also has Alan Thicke as Ethan’s dad, you can’t go wrong with casting like that!

However, in all its wisdom the CBC has decided not to renew the show for the 2008-2009 season. jPod is a critical hit, but it has a bad time slot (Friday nights), thus low ratings. Instead of investing in and giving a great Canadian show a chance, the CBC has cancelled it. So if you haven’t had the chance to catch jPod, you can still watch full episodes at the official CBC site:

There is also a grass-roots movement started by fans to get the show renewed for a second season. Please sign the online petition, join the Facebook group, and tell the CBC how you feel to show your support:
