Site unavailable

March 1, 2008

Today I noticed that candevs.ca has been unavailable on and off throughout the day. At times I haven’t been able to access it neither through a web browser, nor through FTP. I have contacted the hosting company, and hopefully this problem will be fixed.

I’m sure it’s just a minor glitch and not a DOS attack or something malicious like that. In the meantime rest assured that CanDevs is still alive and kicking!

Update (9PM EST): I was just informed by my web host that they have been experiencing server outages due to a building power upgrade. I’m glad that they are working on the issue.

Email forwarding problems

March 1, 2008

I’ve just noticed that I’ve been having problems with email being sent to info@candevs.ca lately. The problem is that email hasn’t been forwarding to one of my personal email accounts; the one in question is a Rogers account. I think the email has been tagged as spam and is being deleted somewhere along the line. So I’ve just changed the forwarding address and hope that the problem has been fixed.

My apologies to those that have emailed me and I will deal with your requests ASAP!

New CanDevs.ca domain

February 1, 2008

CanDevs now has a .ca domain. I felt it was more appropriate since CanDevs is a Canada-centric site. The reason I initially got the .net domain was because of cost. Registering a .ca domain costs $50 a year, while a .net only costs around $25 (at least with my registrar/host). There was a special half price deal to register .ca domains a few weeks back, so I jumped at the chance.

Everything has already been moved to CanDevs.ca, and all CanDevs.net requests are being forwarded to the new domain. The .net domain will remain active until the .ca domain gets established on the web (ie search engines).

So please update your bookmarks!
